25th Feb. Specialties of Nagano (2)

Specialties of Nagano (2)

Let me introduce the specialties of my place, Nagano prefecture.

Ueda city is the eastern part of Nagano and has the third largest population.

There are a lot of traditional buildings, especially temples and shrines, there.

The name ‘Kitamuki-kannon’ means, a god facing to the north (Zenkouji temple). In short Kitamuki-kannon is pairing with Zenkouji, so some people say that we need to go and worship at both temples. It’s a sufficient condition.

Sometimes, I have ‘Yakiniku’ grilled slices of meat. Japan has plenty of delicious and cheap Yakiniku restaurants.

  1. Sorry sir, today keyboard I'm using now doesn't have Japanese version, so I'll type in English.

I've kinda believed Yamaneko is the character you designed, so it was a surprize to know Yamaneko figures are sold in some stores in Nagano!

Anyway I'm sorry sir, I forgot to write my name last time. This is Karin. I graduated Taguchi elementary school long ago and had been to Brazil.

Last time when I commented on your blog, you gave me reply and that made me feel free and overcome some difficulties during exams.

    So, thank you very much!
My mother said hello to you, sir.

  2. Thank you for your comment Karin san

Yes! YAMANEKO is just my character and was born in Taguchi primary school when I was in charge of your class, though it was an ugly cat at that time. Do you remember?
I’m sorry for my bad English sentences; I mean I gave my YAMANEKO doll to the restaurants’ owner (my acquaintance) and they put it on somewhere. It’s not on sale.
I’ve made more than 350 YAMANEKO dolls. Recently I added hyper links to my blog “YAMANEKO ni tsuite” you can access and check!
    See you!
