7th Jan. Togakushi Village

Togakushi Village

I have never come to Togakushi without visiting this shrine called Suzakura. The cherry blossom is very old; someone says it’s more than 2,000 years old.

This is Daizaboushi lake. In winter it freezes and covered with snow.

Togakushi is famous for soba, buckwheat noodles, and I used to work for the restaurant “Ohkubo no chaya”. I called on the owners after a long time away and thank to owners’ power, I got a complimentary ticket (for free). Malo ‘aupito ‘aupito. In addition, the ski lesson I take continues for 3 days, so I can stay in this soba restaurant as my accommodation. I really appreciate.

Togakushi is one of a sacred mountain in Japan and the mountain is very steep. The ski field is located on 2,000m high so it’s very cold. That’s the same as Mt. Asama.
