4th Aug. Meeting Again 再会だぞ

「Meeting Again」

８月４日　再会だぞ

↑At 6:00 AM, I departed LA to San Luis Obispo, Melissa’s place.

　６時にLAからMelissa先生の家があるSan Luis Obispoへ向かいました。

↑Around 11, I met Melissa at last. Oh long time no see!

　11時頃,Melissa先生と再会しました。お～久しぶり～。

↑I was invited to her house. There are her special YAMANEKO’s in her room. Long time no see!

　家に招かれました。彼女の部屋には特別バージョンの山ネコ達がいます。お～久しぶり～。

↑They asked me to translate it. Oh, this is a piece of cloth, which our ancestor used to write down a message for their relative who would go to the war, during the World War 2. Melissa’s grandfather was a soldier so he might take it from somewhere.

　翻訳して欲しいと言われました。何？？お～これは・・・戦争時代に戦場へ送る時に書く布ではないですか～。Melissa先生のおじいちゃんはアメリカ軍兵士で、きっと何処かから持ってきたのでしょう。

↑After that, we visited the butterfly grove. It’s close to the Grover Beach train station.

　その後、蝶の場所へ行きました。電車の駅の近くです。

↑In October, a great many butterflies come together, but now it’s in August.

　１０月にはたくさん集まるそうですが、今は８月です。

↑Following that, we didn’t buy garlic, but bought strawberries.

　その後、ニンニクを買わず・・・イチゴを買いました。

↑This is the high school, which Melissa belonged to.

↑The scenery of town is similar to Europe and New Zealand I think.

　町の景色はヨーロッパやニュージーランドと似ています。

↑Once we came back home, and then we went out for dinner.

　いったん家に戻って、夕食へ出かけました。

↑Sushi restaurant!!! When we were in Tonga, we talked about sushi. America has a lot of sushi restaurant, but the style is different. I needed to check it.

　寿司レストランです。トンガにいた時寿司について話、アメリカにもたくさん寿司レストランがあるけど、スタイルが違うと・・・確かめる必要がありました。

　外見は少し違います、そして・・・

↑This is the sushi with an avocado. When I heard about it in Tonga, I could not believe it, because we don’t eat rice and fruit at the same time in Japan.

Yet, it tasted very good. It tastes like….sea urchin!!!

In addition, American sushi has a fire!!!!!!! Oh man!!!!!!!!!!!

　寿司にアボカド・・・トンガでその話を聞いた時、信じられませんでした。日本では米とフルーツを同時に食べることはしませんから・・・。

　でも食べてみたら結構いけるのです。ウニみたいでした。

　加えて・・・アメリカの寿司は、火を噴きます。どっひゃーーーーーーー！！！！！！！！

↑Anyway, we had a very good time, and I’m happy because a lot of American are very interested in Japanese food and like it. I’m proud of Japanese food.

　とにかく、楽しい時間だったのと、たくさんのアメリカ人が日本食に興味を持ってくれていて、それを好きであるということがわかったので、幸せです。日本食を誇りに思います。

After I came back home, I went to bed right away, maybe because I slept for only 1 or 2 hours last night at the bus station.

　家に帰ってから、すぐに寝ました。多分昨日はバス停で１，２時間しか寝ていないからでしょう。

3rd Aug. LasVegas in the daytime 昼間のラスベガス

「Las Vegas in the daytime」

８月３日　昼間のラスベガスだぞ

↑I woke up around 11 o’clock. Last night, I was writing my blog until late, because I cannot sleep well because of a time difference. Hopefully soon, I can recover from it.

　１１時頃に起きました。まだ時差ぼけがあるので、昨夜は遅くまでブログを書いておりました。もうすぐ時差ぼけが治ればよいのですが・・・。

↑At 12:00, I started walking along the Las Vegas Blvd (The strip street). Because I found it very hard, I decided to take a bus after 1hour walk. The bus ticket cost for US$7 and we can use the ticket anytime for 24 hours. It’s cheap. I should have bought it from the beginning.

　１２時にラスベガス通りを歩きました。1時間歩いた後、こりゃ大変だと分かったので、バスに乗りました。券は７ドルで２４時間いつでも乗ってよいのでした。初めから買っておくべきでした。

　最後のバス停で降りました。

↑I ate breakfast and lunch at the Mc. Donald’s. I ate southern something something burger, L-size French fries, L-size soft drink and 20 nuggets.

　マクドナルドで朝昼食を食べました。サザン何チャラ何チャラバーガーと、Lサイズのポテトと、Lサイズのドリンクと、チキンナゲット２０個を食べました。

↑From the end of the street, I walked back to the beginning with sightseeing. In the street, we can see the very famous sceneries all over the world, for example a pyramid and sphinx in Egypt,

通りの最後から、観光しながら歩いて通りの入り口まで歩くことにしました。世界中の名所を見ることができます。たとえばエジプトのピラミッドとスフィンクス、

↑I departed Las Vegas at 7:30 PM and came back to LA around 1:30 AM. I had no time to find hotel, so I took a nap until my bus comes at 6:00 AM. There is no centipede, cockroach, mosquito… it’s comfortable.

　ラスベガスを夕方7時半に出発し、ロサンゼルスに深夜1時半に帰ってきました。宿を探す時間もなかったので、６時にバスが来るまで仮眠することにしました。ムカデもゴキブリも蚊もいなくて、快適ですね～。

2nd Aug. Grand Canyon　グランドキャニオンだぞ

８月２日　グランドキャニオンだぞ

↑I got up at 5:30 and asked clerk to book my tour of Grand Canyon. Thanks to Lob (clerk), I succeeded to join the tour. This is the breakfast. We have to make a pancake ourselves.

　５時半に起き、宿の人にグランドキャニオンツアーへの予約をお願いしました。Lobさんがよくやってくれたお陰で、ツアーに参加できました。これは朝食です。自分でホットケーキを作らなければなりません・・・。

↑After 10 o’clock, I went to the downtown to take a bus. The street was very calm in the daytime.

　１０時過ぎにバスに乗るため町へ出かけました。昼間の通りは静かです。

↑LUNAROSSA!!!! We know the same name restaurant in Tonga. I’ve been there about 3 times.

　ルナロッサは同じ名前のレストランがトンガにもありました。３回位行きましたね～。

↑At last, I can visit the Grand Canyon. First, I took a bus to the airport. (10 minutes)

　遂にグランドキャニオンに行けます。最初、空港までバスで行きました。

↑Next, I took the airplane to get to the Grand Canyon. (30 minutes)

I looked down the Grand Canyon from the sky.

Though, some tourist was scared of the small airplane, I don’t care about it, because I’m used to the very small airplane thanks to the experience of my business trip in Tonga. Especially Hirono’s airplane in ‘Eua Island is much smaller than this one.

　次に飛行機でグランドキャニオンまで行きます。空から見下ろせました。

何人かの旅行者は小さい飛行機を怖がっておりましたが、Torojiro先生はトンガ国内の出張経験のお陰で小さい飛行機に慣れており、何とも思いません。特にエウアのそろばんガールズHironoさんの飛行機はもっと小さいのです。

↑I went down to the bottom by helicopter. (10 minutes) I saw the majestic cliffs at close range.I have not taken a helicopter for 2 years. Last time I got into the helicopter in New Zealand. When I enjoyed a Heli- Skiing in 2010.

谷の底までヘリコプターで下りました。雄大な崖を間近で見ました。2年間ヘリコプターに乗っていませんでした。前回はニュージーランドで２０１０年にヘリスキーを楽しんだ時でした。

↑At the bottom, I took a boat, and enjoyed cruising. I looked up the Grand Canyon from the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon has 1000m-high and the river has 2,333 km length. What a large-scale.

　谷底でボートに乗りクルージングを楽しみました。コロラド川からグランドキャニオンを見上げました。高さは１，０００mあり、長さは２３３３ｋｍもあります。スケールがデカイ！！

↑I saw a lot of native American life there. Some of native Americans are working as performers.

　たくさんのアメリカン・インディアンの暮らしを見ました。何人かのインディアンの方はパフォーマーとして働いていました。

↑On the way back, by chance, one lady whose name is Vicky sat next to me. We talked with each other. She showed me their traditional necklace made of stone, and I showed my YAMANEKO doll made from clay. I gave No. 365 YAMANEKO to her; she gave me the traditional necklace. The shape stands for an arrow.

Although, I gave nearly 20 YAMANEKOs to American, it’s YAMANEKO’s first time to go to a native American. She said, there are only 1,500 native American living.

帰りに、Vickyさんという女性が隣に座りました。お話しました。彼女は石で作られた伝統的なネックレスを見せてくれました。Torojiro先生は粘土で作られた山ネコを見せました。山ネコNo.３６５をあげました。そのお返しに伝統的なネックレスをもらいました。その形は矢を表しているようです。

　アメリカ人には２０体近く山ネコを渡しておりますが、アメリカン・インディアンの方の所へ山ネコが行くのは初めてです。今はたった１，５００人しかいないようです。

↑After I came back to my accommodation, I took shower and nap. Following that I went out for dinner. The street was so noisy in the nighttime.

　宿に帰ってから、シャワーを浴び、昼寝して、夕食を食べに出かけました。夜の通りはうるさいです。

　ギャンブルにもアミューズメントにも興味が無いので・・・

↑I passed through the street and had Mc. Donald’s with seeing the street. I prefer natural place ,like the Grand Canyon, to urban places.

　通りを通過し、マクドナルドで食べました。町よりグランドキャニオンみたいな自然が好きです。

(American) 1st Aug. LAX to Las Vegas

「LAX to Las Vegas」

アメリカのの８月１日　ロサンゼルスからラスベガスだぞ

↑I got up at 10:15. I overslept maybe because of a time difference. When my flight departed Japan, it was 3 o’clock AM so I slept in the airplane, when I got to LA airport; it was 10 o’clock PM, but I could not sleep at once…

　１０時１５分に起きました。寝過ごしました。多分時差のせいです。飛行機が日本を経った時は早朝３時でしたから、機内で寝ました。ロサンゼルス空港に着いた時、夜の１０時でしたが、すぐに寝ることはできませんでした。

↑Bye-bye the motel 6 hotel! It was US$65/ private room. I think it’s very cheap.

バイバイ、宿！個室が６５ドルでした。安いです！

↑I decided to go to Las Vegas immediately. I found we should get to Las Vegas to join the tour of Grand Canyon. We need to take 3 buses to get there.

In America, cars go on the right side. I’m confused now…

突然ラスベガスに行くことにしました。グランドキャニオンツアーに参加する為に、ラスベガスに行くのが良いと分かりました。

　アメリカでは車は右を通ります。混乱中です・・・。

↑This is the highway bus to Las Vegas. It costs only US$28.

これがラスベガスに行く高速バスです。たった２８ドルです。

↑On the way, I ate Mc Donald’s.　To tell the truth, I ate Mc Donald’s only once in Japan after I came back from Tonga (Sep. 2011). Perhaps, this is the reason that I ate oily food too much in Tonga.

途中、マクドナルドを食べました。実は２０１１年にトンガから帰国してから日本で1回しか食べておりません。多分トンガで油っこい物を食べ過ぎたからでしょう。

After connecting 3 buses, include 2 local buses, (8 hours)…

利用した高速バスです。８時間かけて３つのバスを乗り継いだ後（２本の路線バスを含む）・・・

ついにラスベガスに着きました。メインの通りは・・・ただただ騒がしかったです・・・。

「Arrival」

アメリカの７月３１日　到着だぞ

↑I arrived at LA airport around 10:30 PM on 31 Jul. Oh, I remember that I cerebrated my birthday twice, thanks to the International Date Line, in New Zealand and Samoa in 2010.

Anyway, I got an extra 31 July this year.

　LA空港に午後１０時半頃着きました。お～ニュージーランドとサモアで２０１０年に誕生日を2回迎えたことを思い出しました。　
　とにかく、今年は余分に７月３１日を過ごせました。

　　　　　誕生日を2回迎えた記事　inサモア

↑Oh, I remember when I arrived at Tonga in 2009, the final destination of my airplane was LA (New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and LA). We can say, our countries surround the Pacific Ocean and we are close with each other.

　思い出しました。２００９年にトンがに着いた時、乗っていた飛行機の行き先はLAでした。ニュージーランド→トンガ→サモア→LAっていう感じでした。だから我々の国々は太平洋を囲んでいて、お互い近いと言えますねぇ。
